letter to dad sept 16

dear dad,
the mtc is awesome so far. everything is so pretty here. i am getting along with everyone pretty well so far. my room ates are awesome. how is everything going at home? its probably just falling apart since i am not there...sorry. brazil is beautiful. it is crazy how huge the city is here. like it is never ending. but it is so colorful...so ya. i am loving it here and i know i just got here a week ago but i cant wait to learn the language and get out there to teach the people in cuiaba. i have been hearing so much about my mission and cant wait to see it for myself. love you and hope to hear from you soon.

letter to mom sept 16th written sept 2

i am on a bus right now. the roads are not the best here in brazil. we just went through the campinas temple, it was awesome. it is so green here. at least where there are no buildings. it is a huge city...it is crazy. the temple was beautiful. today is my first p-day so it is exciting cause we get to go out on the town. it is the 2 of september and i have not gotten a letter yet from anyone. what is up with that...you all forgot about me? hope not. i hope to hear from everyone soon. and i hope everything at home is going great. i am loving it here. i am getting close to my room ates and everyone...so that is good. the language will come eventually i hope. pray for me. i am praying for all of you. i love you very much, and thank you for everything.

Hey mom, i actually did want you to send me a package....but no electronics or anything.....they tax it big time and im poor.....um...if you can send reias to me....that would be cool....its the kind of money they use down here.....but its no biggy....the list of stuff i need is.....SNACKS-all sorts of snacks....we starve here cuz dinner is at 4...its lameo....some ties....which sounds like you are already planning on doin that.....a calender....some padded envolopes-like 2....but make sure there just little ones....fabric softener sheets for the dryer.....like 5 hangers....give or take a few...some air borne :)...ive gone healthy....some mints....were not aloud to chew gum so i packed all that for thinging.....shampoo....bar of soap....thanks a bunch...your the best mom ever...i love it....o and my address is box # 4 district 35-B...you got those backward and i was told to have ya fix it....and thanks for talkin to Jatauna.....i miss her.....i still havnt gotten a letter from her....o well though.....hope soon

im doing great....i love it here....i might be doing to well actually....we are like the rowdiest district here...haha....but my testimony is grownin....fast and lots....its amazing....the spirt is strong here.....and emotions are perfectly fine...i havnt cried once since our family testimony meeting.....NOT ONCE....so its good....i love the pictures i have....i look at them ofter....Jatauna is a babe....mmm mmm...haha....and i love to see the family
we wnt to the campinus temple today....i put rethas name in the pray box.....i hope all is going good with here....i have been freakin all weak wondering if i have a new nephew.

Dear Family August 27th
Everything is going great, so far. This city is HUGE! Over 10 million, I think. When we were flying over it, I couldn't see the end.
I love it here so far. My companion's name is Elder Hayes. He is from Washington. 2 of my roommates are going to Cuiba, so it is exciting. I get 2 more roommates from Brazil tomorrow (the 28th of August)
The MTC is a lot smaller than i thought.
My first meal in Brazil was...guess? Rice and Beans!
My second? Nope! Eggplant and Rice, but they were pretty good. I haven't tried the drinks yet.
We got to tour the city outside the MTC. It is so different. There was a man sleeping in the middle of the sidewalk so that was weird.
I have to have 2 immunization shots while I am here. YUCK! They will cost $150 so I might need more money.
I don't think there are traffic laws here, only traffic guidelines.
I can't take my camera outside the MTC and I can't call or see Miguel.
Please, please tell everyone to write. Use my full name and address. I would hate to never get letters.
Oh, I got your letters when I arrived, Mom. That was really nice to have mail waiting for me.

hyrums first letter/email

Hey mom...so i can email you...hopefully you get this....but i just sent out some letters and a package like an hour ago but i think it takes a week to get there but i dont know for sure....anyway...everything is going great....im loving it here....the weather has bee good to....some mights it even gets a little chilly...but its been fun....tuesdays are my p-days so i will email and write then....prob email around 3 my time...i think that is noon your time...not for sure...right now it is 330 but i should be on or at least try to be on around 3 from now on...no promises though....but everything is going great....im absolutely loving it here.....one thing though...we never get letters...its totally lamo....but o well i know they take a week to get here and i know we have only been here for one week....so thats ok.....ill forgive you.....but from now on....try to not have to many people send letters the same day...try to spread them out like one every day or something.....if ya want....i dont really care.....im just st0ked to get letters..but i love it here....my roommates and comp are totally coolllll.......we went to the temple today...t was beautiful...it was the campinus temple...we will go to it the first few weeks then the saó paulo temple after that.....well i m gonna run...get me dads email if you would....you two are the only two I'm allowed to email....I love you...tell everyone else i love them and im doing good.....all the family and friends.....thanks a bunch...Love youLove Elder Stanger
